Edgar Jones Paul lost his father in a tragic scooter accident, leaving behind his mother and seven siblings. Paul completed his schooling at M.C.C. and went on to pursue a Diploma in mechanical engineering with the support of well-wishers. He joined Indian Airlines at Chennai in 1980 and voluntarily retired in 2003.
Inspired by the selfless humanitarian service rendered by Nobel laureate Mother Teresa, Paul and his childhood friend commenced a journey to provide a new lease of life to the elderly destitute abandoned by their own family. In 1991, they founded a public charitable trust named Little Drops. Commencing the journey with one shelter and four inmates in 1991, Little Drops today has 10 branches providing residential care to over 1,000 elderly people. Since its inception, Little Drops has had the honour of rescuing and rehabilitating over 9,000 abandoned elderly people from the streets.
