An alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Colonel David Devasahayam was commissioned into the Infantry, a famous Battalion, The Second Battalion of the Eighth Gorkha Rifles. He has commanded two infantry battalions and an Army Training Centre. After voluntarily retiring from the Indian Army, he set up the enormously successful Radiant Group of Companies, which has five verticals in the fields of Cash Logistics, Man Guarding Services, Medical Services, IT Services and Knowledge Process Outsourcing. The Group has Regional Offices across the country in all State Capitals, and employs over 8000 personnel. Radiant Cash Management Services is presently the third-largest Cash Logistics company in India and has recently become public. Col. David is the recipient of numerous awards, such as the National Security Entrepreneur of the Year (2011). In 2012, he received the Socially Conscious Entrepreneur of the Year followed by the Udyog Ratna from the Government of India.
He is married to Dr. Renuka David, the Managing Director of Radiant Medical Services. They have two children, a son, Alexander David, and a daughter, Angela David.
