Biju Thampy is the Founder of Vision Rescue, a non-profit that frees children in slum communities from exploitation by engaging and sustaining them in education. In the last 18 years, Vision Rescue’s teams across Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai have provided education to over 12,170 children, enrolled over 5000 into formal schooling, and served over 4 million nutritious meals to children living in poverty.
During the pandemic, Vision Rescue sustained over 15,700 families by freely distributing emergency grocery kits for over 2.37 million meals. Biju believes that the task of empowering the poor is not restricted to the exclusive purview of a few professionals but is rather made possible by every single person with a heart to serve with their time and talents. To this end, Biju has spent the last five years building The Movement India, a volunteer army across 10 cities in India that serves in the fields of education for children from slum communities, anti-human trafficking, and mental health. Internationally, Biju is known as a powerful and inspirational speaker, frequently headlining conferences across the US, UK, Australia, Brazil, etc. Moreover, he leads the New India Church of God (NICOG) network of churches, reaching over 3000 towns and villages in 22 Indian states, and in Mumbai, he is the Senior Pastor of The Gateway Church. Biju is married to Secunda Thampy and lives in Mumbai with his children Timothy, Nathan, and Benjamin.
